The healthcare faxing community is very much alive. Both vendors and healthcare organizations are helping to foster a new era of secure document transmission for the healthcare industry.
We saw this at HIMSS 2015 in Chicago this year – the sheer amount of multidisciplinary vendors and attendees that were interested in an IP-based fax solution was overwhelming.
The event was buzzing over a solution to one of the healthcare industry’s biggest problems: securely transmitting unstructured data.
As we anticipated, much of the conversation revolved around unstructured data. We were surprised by the lack of knowledge surrounding the options for healthcare industry professionals to solve this problem for their respective organizations.
We spoke with attendees and vendors from every corner of the healthcare industry, from physicians and health information technology (IT) professionals to providers looking for security solutions. All of them were interested in a cost-effective application that would provide higher quality built-in redundancy and faster speed.
ETHERFAX aims to take network security to the next level in the wake of what we learned at HIMSS15 through the use of our Secure Exchange Network (SEN) and other faxing applications.
Who did we talk to?
At the show, we spoke to all types of healthcare organizations – big and small alike. All types of organizations are transmitting unstructured data and all of them need a solution that will do so securely.
From technology vendors to the healthcare professionals themselves, everyone is looking for a solution that will protect both unstructured and structured data transmission.
We work with hospitals and doctors as well as other technology vendors to improve their network security. ETHERFAX can fill in the gaps where other fax-reliant network security solutions have trouble – we can transmit the unstructured data securely as well as incorporate existing fax machines into the ecosystem.
What did we learn?
While we weren’t surprised by any of the pain points that healthcare professionals discussed, we were surprised at the enormity of them. A majority of those we spoke with had an interest in helping to secure their unstructured data, which is currently not being managed at maximum efficiency.
Many healthcare vendors and professionals were looking for a solution to help them transmit both unstructured and structured data, and were disappointed in other vendors that couldn’t provide them this ability.
ETHERFAX is the only secure fax network with the ability to 100 percent guarantee the secure transmission of unstructured data. Other major players in the industry don’t have this capability.
There are limited options for those who wish to take their existing fax machines and incorporate them. With the ETHERFAX Analog-to-EtherFAX (A2E) device, healthcare organizations are finally provided with a way to do so.
What’s coming next?
In the past decade, immense advances in the healthcare industry have opened up a need for security in Occupational and Environmental Medicine (OEM) as well as in the transmission of Electronic Health and Medical Records (EHR/EMR).
We hope to fill a security need for EMR and EHR vendors as well as OEM operators, and we discovered that we are not the only ones.
Several key players in the fax industry were interested in collaborating in an effort to secure structured and unstructured data transmission for the healthcare industry. Several key fax server manufactures are in the process of creating this option for healthcare professionals, giving them the ability to transmit their data without ever having to traverse an external telephone line, with ETHERFAX is leading the way.
We are calling the show a success and look forward to a future for healthcare that will provide secure transmission of all healthcare data in a secure, reliable and fast environment.
