Fax Federation Securely Transmits Data for Healthcare Organizations

Mar 01, 2016

Marlboro, NJ (March 1, 2016) – Fax Federation, an industry consortium focused on creating the world’s largest secure fax network today announced that it currently represents 10 million endpoints, offering an ultra-secure and fast network for the healthcare ecosystem. The consortium offers an API that enables fax server providers, devices, and fax-enabled applications to securely exchange documents and faxes across the Fax Federation network.

In healthcare, there are volumes of unstructured data recorded on behalf of patients for diagnostic and clinical purposes each day. Fax Federation provides guaranteed delivery, end-to-end encryption, and ultra-fast connections for compliant faxes – without traversing traditional PSTN infrastructure. Data can be securely transmitted between EMR/EHRs, fax servers and endpoints, allowing healthcare organizations to stay compliant with regulations such as HIPAA and PCI-DSS.

Fax Federation connects all major fax servers and fax-enabled applications and endpoints via a cloud-based transport network. The consortium allows a 50-page document to be transmitted in seconds, compared to conventional methods that require 30 to 45 minutes.

“The Fax Federation partnership offers a new, open approach for healthcare industries to securely transport of highly sensitive, business-critical documents for the enterprise,” said Paul Banco, CEO of ETHERFAX. “Fax is the backbone of technology in clinical healthcare and we are excited to contribute to a system that furthers the capabilities of fax and application-specific document exchange.”

“If any healthcare information technology solution provider offering a fax server, EMR, EHR, device or application is looking for the next evolution of fax, this is it,” said Mark Malone, industry analyst at FaxOverCloud.com.

More than a dozen companies have been instrumental in forming Fax Federation. The founding members include ETHERFAX, FaxSIPit, FaxCore, GFI FaxMaker, Biscom, GoldFax, Imecom, Facsys, TargetFax, ExtraFax, FAAST, FaxBack, Fenestrae, Pangea Communications, Scrypt, Stratafax, and Shield.
