Fax Technology is filling the Gap Left from Disappearing PRI Lines

May 24, 2014

Employing modern fax technology is a convenient option for replacement of Primary Rate Interface (PRI) lines for businesses that still use them for data transport. This is pressing since AT&T announced earlier this year that it is taking steps to begin trials to eliminate all landline connections in certain areas. If the move is approved by the FCC, all landline connections would be removed by 2020.

A convenient replacement for PRI technology are IP fax services (FoIP) such as ETHERFAX. FoIP uses the internet to send messages, increasing the speed and ease of communication. With this technology, faxes are securely transmitted to a recipient’s fax machine and or application.

ETHERFAX technology operates like an FoIP for businesses, creating a network that allows companies to easily scale their fax communications both internally and externally. Scaling fax communications with PRI technology requires purchase of a fax board along with monthly costs to the network, a total that could reach in upwards of $19,000. With ETHERFAX, You can easily scale without any added telephony expense.

With PRI technology transitioning out of communications technology, ETHERFAX provides a non-disruptive, easy to install, more affordable alternative to PRI lines that will help businesses stay secure, connected and compliant.
