Heartbleed Response

Apr 24, 2014

As many of you have become aware of the recent Heartbleed security exploit, rest assured that ETHERFAX continually monitors all potential threats on a continual basis and can confidently report that no customer information has been compromised. ETHERFAX’s network infrastructure was unaffected by this most recent threat since our systems are not based on OpenSSL (the underlying security technology compromised by Heartbleed).

Heartbleed aside, please know that ETHERFAX takes security threats seriously and employs the finest carrier grade technologies available to continuously monitor and defend our network. In addition to checking for new threats daily, ETHERFAX remains in close contact with our partners, telephone carriers, and network equipment vendors to assure that we’ve left no stone unturned.

Also note that ETHERFAX has modeled its security using rigorous standards defined by both NIST and the NSA. As such, we strongly embrace the “defense in depth” methodology that emphasizes the use of multiple encryption/security technologies in the event one system has been compromised or exploited.
